Employers’ Liability Insurance

If you have employees, temporary staff, volunteers or helpers working at your event, you’ll need Employers’ Liability Insurance, as demanded by law.

This will provide up to £10 million of cover for your legal liability to pay damages, claimants costs and expenses in relation to an employee injury. The member of staff must be under your control and supervision at the time they sustain an injury.

Our Employers' liability insurance covers you for the following:

  • Accidental bodily injury occurring to an employee or volunteer
  • Compensation for the families of employees or volunteers in case they suffer death
  • Liability of employees or volunteers when interacting with guests or audience members
  • Cover for legal fees, compensation, damages, and expenses
  • The cover protects you from the set-up of your event – essentially, from the moment you arrive at the venue

Employers' liability insurance does not cover:

  • The employees of any professional contractor or sub-contractor whose services you are employing. The company you are hiring for your party (i.e. caterers, first aiders, or professional security services) should have their own cover in place
  • Injury or illness arising from any security work
  • Injury or illness arising from work at heights in excess of 2.5 metres unless agreed
  • Any liability in respect of, or arising from, road traffic accidents.
